Zumba dancing, walking clubs, taste tests and motivational speakers…this is how Whittier Elementary’s 360 students activated Fuel Up to Play 60 during the 2010-2011 school year! Whittier’s physical education teacher enlisted other adults in the community to help jumpstart the program and make a big impression. And by spring, students had invited parents to join them. A fundamental Fuel Up to Play 60 concept is for students to take the lead for themselves and their peers in school, with adult guidance. Together, Whittier Elementary’s community has made a difference in the health of their students. In fact, it goes right along with their school motto of TEAM — Together Everyone Achieves More!
