We all know that a good hearty breakfast is an essential way to start your day. But did you know it can also fuel you up – all the way to the Super Bowl?
From October 1 through December 3, all active schools are invited to share an original recipe for an oatmeal breakfast for a chance to win awesome prizes in the Fuel Up to Play 60 Super Bowl Breakfast Challenge. Two national winners will each receive a VIP, all-expense-paid trip for two to Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans and a $1,000 grant for their school to help turn their oatmeal recipes into a reality.
The recipe possibilities are endless – mix oatmeal with low-fat milk or yogurt in a delicious smoothie, add cinnamon or other spices, mix in fruits or nuts – even add food coloring to support a favorite NFL team. For inspiration, check out these tasty recipes for Oatmeal Yogurt Breakfast Blend and Homemade Lowfat Granola from Midwest Dairy Council, then dig in to putting together your own delicious and nutritious oatmeal creation. Be sure submissions include ways to share the concept at school – as part of a breakfast club, at an oatmeal smoothie station, by holding a test tasting contest – or incorporating it into an existing Fuel Up to Play 60 Play.
Check out more details and official entry information here. Submissions are due Dec. 3, 2012, so get cooking!
